Jones named VP of Field Support at McCoy's
McCoy’s Building Supply Owner and CEO Brian McCoy announced to McCoy’s team members last Tuesday that Meagan McCoy Jones has been promoted to the position of Vice President of Field Support. As Vice President, Jones will continue to focus on improving the efficiencies of the 83-store lumber and hardware retailer.
Jones is the fourth generation to work in her family business. While she may not have officially joined the team until 2005, Jones has long been a steady contributor to the company and was recently named a 2011 San Marcos Shining Star Under 40 by the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce.
“It’s a blessing to do what I love every day with a family and team I care about even more,” Jones said. “Our task is to give our customers the best products with the finest service possible, and it is a blast. We will continue to grow as people, grow our company, and innovate in our industry – we have a strong future ahead of us.”
Jones is a member of the Board of Directors of McCoy Corporation and serves the Lumbermen’s Association of Texas (LAT) as co-chair of the legislative committee. She is also a Trustee of LUMPAC, LAT’s political action committee, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Home Builders Association of Greater Austin.
Jones joined McCoy’s working as part-time salesperson at the retailer’s Georgetown, Texas location while pursuing her Master’s degree in Communication Studies from the University of Texas. Upon graduation, she joined McCoy’s full-time in the Corporate Development department with the specific goal of learning all facets of the company’s headquarters operations. During that time, Jones also worked with the Texas Legislature on behalf of McCoy’s to revise the Business Franchise Tax, Lien Laws and more recently tax exemption procedures for agriculture and timber industries.
In August 2007, Jones began a one-year term as Assistant Store Manager of McCoy’s Manchaca, Texas store. She transitioned to McCoy’s headquarters team in August 2008 as the Director of Field Support.
“Meagan’s year in the Manchaca store was not spent merely going through the motions of just paying her dues,” McCoy’s Senior Vice President and CIO Dennis Strong said. “She gained a tremendous amount of business knowledge from the field that has been invaluable for her role at the headquarters level. She participates on our Executive Team, and she has demonstrated that her operations expertise rivals many of our senior team members.”
Jones grew up in San Marcos, Texas and graduated from the San Marcos Baptist Academy in 2000. She graduated from the University of Richmond in 2004 with a BA in Rhetoric and Communication Studies and from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006 with a MA in Communication Studies. While at Richmond, she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She currently serves as member of the Board of Directors for Austin-based Mobile Loaves and Fishes. She is married to Richard Jones. They have one son, Gideon, and are expecting their second child in May 2012.
